About

Lucy Harris is a full-service interior design studio based in New York City and has been featured in publications such  as WSJ, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, New York Magazine, Luxe Magazine, 1stDibs Introspective, and seen on NBC's Open House NYC. Building on personal histories rooted in design, Lucy and her team create spaces that are reflective of the people who inhabit them, mingled with their own love of modernism.

Lucy Harris

Growing up in a modernist house in New England with artistic parents, Lucy developed an appreciation for thoughtful art and design at an early age. From her great-great grandparents' eclectic art- and antiques-filled Federal townhouse in Beacon Hill (now the Nichols House Museum), to her great-grandparents' Arts and Crafts summer home in Ipswich, to the Mid-Century Kaneji Domoto designed-home where she lives in Westchester's Usonia community, Lucy has always been surrounded by beautiful, timeless design.

Building on that heritage, Lucy is influenced by various art and design movements. Eclecticism is at the root of her designs, and her work is reminiscent of the “impossible bouquets” of Dutch Master painters, in which flowers that would not normally grow together exist side-by-side in the name of art. Lucy has lived in Rome and Milan and visits Europe often. She sources furniture, rugs, lighting and materials from all over the world, and works with skilled craftspeople from Brooklyn to Los Angeles to realize her custom furniture designs.

The Studio

Lucy Harris’ process is a collaborative one. The studio takes all aspects of its clients’ lives into account to yield a unique narrative for each room. From the initial vision through to completion, Lucy Harris ensures that every detail, every accent, every moment is meaningful, intentional and beautifully considered.

Lucy Harris’ clients come from varied backgrounds, and have one thing in common: A desire to live in homes that tell distinctive stories. The studio embraces the opportunity to tell these stories and work on design projects all over the world. Lucy Harris has worked on residential and commercial projects in New York City, Westchester and the Hamptons as well as Bermuda and Mumbai.

Favorite/dream travel destination

The vast expanses of Chinese and Indian literature and ancient history are where I would love to navigate, carried by the flow of the original version, without dubbing in English. They appear so remote by measure of distance and language barrier, but so close by the meaning they echo in today's life.
